Visceral Waves
[Тэкст даступны толькі на англійскай мове] Visceral Waves sees the first collaboration between scenographer Asia Gulcz and artist Blair Zaye and is accompanied by an original score by Fernando Antonio dos Santos. Created and performed at Newspeak House as part of a Trajectory Theatre event.

Visceral Waves is an interactive performance-based, new media installation, where audience members take turns being immersed in the experience of deep listening of a musical composition while intuitively painting. The person's mark-making is filmed from above and a live feed is projection-mapped onto a costume-clad performer in front of them. In addition, the performers' movements are captured with the use of a secondary camera and overlaid, intermingling with the audience's input. Simultaneously, the participant’s brainwaves are being read via an EEG band on their head and transmitted to a program that can read the data and convert it into colour number values which in turn changes the hue of the projected image.

The aim is to create visual energy flow, through movement, music, traditional mark-making, technology, and an intuitive connection between performer and audience in space.

In Asia’s practice, she explores the relationship between audio-visual expression and sensory experience as the potential for creating immersive environments. Her work is posing the question; how can sound be visualised in space?
