Thus this is helping us, answering questions and solving problems one comes across within the daily life. In this regard IDIYOTIC can be seen as an homage to the way we are dealing with this emerging knowledge, the grand library of documented, personified knowledge in the form of short amateur videos, which are shared on various video platforms on the internet.
The work IDIYOTC invites the audience to question those topics like: sharing culture, free exchange, self made/taught, knowledge sharing from a slightly shifted perspective.
IDIYOTIC is a live performed 'Mash Up' of several hundreds video tutorials remixed and recreated in a unique unpredictable entertaining way.
For this piece several hundreds online tutorials have been analyzed, sorted and edited to allow the creation of a live mash up/remix. By mixing the different tutorials and by erasing the original context the creation of a new tutorial with alternative meanings and context appears, only restricted by the unifying limitation of their original presentation.
