[Тэкст даступны толькі на англійскай мове] "Bug in the code" is a by-product of an experiment led by artists from Collectif Fossile about the law. Collectif Fossile has engaged a new research about law with a strong will to merge artistic and scientific approaches. Human and natural laws have a historical common background as far as their methods of development are concerned. Bruno Latour has made obvious the conflictual correlation between the works of Thomas Hobbes and Robert Boyle during the XVIIth century, both trying to promote autonomy and superiority for their respective field of research : the Leviathan and the air-pump (in "Nous n'avons jamais été modernes").

Considering the exponential development of law within frames that include strong, partial and specialized hypotheses, Collectif Fossile wants to suggest the idea that law could also evolve in a negative way, searching to build consensus and efficiency around simple and short proposals.

Termites are considered worldwide as one of the most destructive species among insects. Both their ability to digest cellulose and its derivatives as well as their collective organization have led us to the idea that we could use them to re-write one of the fundamental human law at a planetary scale : the so-called Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Bug in the code was born from this project. It consists in a long term installation and an audiovisual performance based on audio and video recordings of their activity and the morse-like noise they produce by banging their head convulsively to communicate. We propose the audience to dive into this material that will be played and mixed live, while the disintegration of the famous legal text is being reconstituted with a virus-like home-made software. A performer is reading the decaying text, trying to emphasize neologisms or new formulas created during the process. The last step of this experiment focuses on the work of the termites through a collector publication of the new text.
